Whilst working on content for assignment 1, i required a means of documenting my progression as well as evidence of work. Begin a novice web designer we have started of by using a basic online 'content manipulation system' call Hotglue. It is structured to allow registered users to create free personal domains, instantly viewable online and ready for editing.

By appending "/edit" to the URL and providing your login details, you are able to upload and manipulate content within Hotglues unique GUI/workspace which relies using visual tools (Figure 1). Aside from divs and pictures, Hotglue also allows creators to upload other external media inputs directly into the page including YouTube video & SoundCloud audio players. Although there are many tricks to the program, it strongly relies on a point, click & drag system to edit content. I will be keeping note of the programs strengths and weaknesses through using it to create my website.

HOTGLUE INTRODUCTION

HOTGLUE EVALUATION
Being use to designing website on Adobe Dreamweaver, Hotglue instantly felt like a significant step down from a design point of view with its minimalist interface lacking the wider range tool I am familiar with. The concept alone seemed interesting enough as it adopts an extremely unique visually minimalist GUI which for new users is difficult to navigate. It certainly seems like a unique ulterior approach to creating web pages which I am excited to try.

My honest personal opinions of hot glue after finishing my portfolio is that I hate it and feel relieve i will never have to use it again. No doubt there are some redeeming factors to consider but in general there are far too many negative aspects to even begin drawing a comparison.

I found that it often became a hindrance to my work. My aversion to the program usually put me of from using it which is not good especially when my university coursework relies on it. Providing how unprofessional the software feels, I often felt an anxiety towards the reliability towards the company keeping all of my important work safe under their servers. This is why I kept a backup copy of all the sites content which doubled my efforts every time I wanted to add or remove something from the site. The one good aspect for keeping all your work on someone else’s server is that the Portability is greatly enhance as you can access and edit your site from any location, providing you have correct login details.
